If you’d like to smile more confidently, knowing your teeth are their whitest and brightest, you might want to consider dentist-supervised teeth whitening. Teeth whitening is a safe, effective, and lasting way to lighten most people’s smiles. The bleaching gel we use is available in several concentrations for each individual’s needs. Please talk with us about the criteria for best results, how whitening could best suit your needs. Whitening treatments are most successful in removing yellow, brown or orange tinges. However, brown tones from fluorosis or dark gray tones caused by tetracycline antibiotics will usually not whiten as dramatically. Dental fillings or porcelain fillings will not whiten at all. Finally, sensitive teeth, teeth with periodontal disease, and teeth with worn enamel typically do not respond well to whitening. The use of tobacco products will also diminish the success of whitening.
Our patients have had the most success with supervised at-home bleaching. The in-office bleaching is less predictable, more expensive, can result in more sensitivity, and requires additional office visits to achieve a long lasting result.
