William R. Birdwell, DDS

Dr. Birdwell graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1969 with a BA in English. In 1973 he graduated from the UT Dental Branch at Houston with a DDS degree. He was commissioned in the U.S. Air Force Dental Corps and served at Beale AFB, California, prior to opening his private dental practice in Bryan-College Station in 1976.

Since he's been in the Brazos Valley, Dr. Birdwell has helped establish a local dental clinic that bears his name, which provides dental services for the underserved and uninsured. He also helped create a dental hygiene school at Blinn College to help address the shortage of dental hygienists in Texas. He mentors many pre-dental students at Texas A&M, and speaks regularly to their Pre-Dental Society.

Texas Dentist of the Year Award In 2001, Dr. Birdwell was named the Texas Dentist of the Year by his peers. He holds fellowships in the Academy of General Dentistry, the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. He is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and past president of the Brazos Valley District Dental Society. Dr. Birdwell is also a board member and past president of the UT Dental Branch Alumni Association and was chosen Alumnus of the Year in 2005. In 2008, Dr. Birdwell and his team were chosen Best Dentist in the Brazos Valley.

Dr. Birdwell and team members traveled to Guatemala on a medical/dental mission trip in 2002. They treated many underserved patients in the community hospital located in Antigua.

Dr. and Mrs. Birdwell are members of the first United Methodist Church in Bryan, where they have sung in the sanctuary choir for over 33 years. They helped establish the Wesley Sunday School Class and continue to serve the church in its local ministries and international mission efforts. They are the parents of Bonnie and Will (deceased) and grandparents of Caroline and William.

Stephen Wright, DDS

Dr. Wright was born in Honolulu, Hawaii at Tripler Army Hospital. After spending the majority of his childhood, and graduating from High School, in Harlingen, Texas, he then attended Furman University where he earned an undergraduate and graduate degree in Chemistry. In 1995, he moved to College Station, where his father was working as an orthopedic surgeon at Scott & White.

While in College Station, Dr. Wright worked for a local medical office and volunteered at the Emergency room gaining valuable experience in the health care field. During this time, he also met his wife, Allyson, at Grace Bible Church. Dr. Wright spent 3 years teaching Chemistry and Physics at Highland Park High School and then entered dental school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. During Dental school, Dr. Wright took the opportunity to serve others by going on Medical Mission trips through the Christian Medical and Dental Association. Upon graduation, Dr. Wright and his family moved back to College Station to be close to family and to build a practice in a community where family is so valued.

In addition to working and raising his family (one daughter and two sons), Dr. Wright has quickly gotten involved in the community. He is involved with the Brazos Leadership program of the Chamber or Commerce and serves on the Education Foundation for the College Station Independent School District. He serves the Foundation as President in 2009. With his personal time, he is very committed to Grace Bible Church where he enjoys leading Bible Studies and serves as a deacon. Dr. Wright is excited to be a part of our practice because it allows him to practice dentistry the way he believes is best. He strives to give every patient a thorough evaluation, using the latest and most up-to-date methods. He then helps them achieve a healthier smile in a caring and compassionate way.

Our Staff

When we hire a staff member, we look for enthusiasm and empathy for patients before we look for experience because that's something we can't instill. That's not to say we're short on experience because our staff is highly competent and trained. In fact, our staff has about 220 years of combined experience. Several have been with us up to 25 years, and we think their loyalty to this practice is the best recommendation anyone can give.

Carol, Registered Dental Hygienist Carol has been a dental hygienist since 1967 and been on our staff since 1976. Carol feels it’s important to “form a relationship of trust in order to help patients understand and accept the need for proactive dental care, whether it is preventive or restorative.”
Cathy, Registered Dental Hygienist Cathy has been on our staff since 1996. Her reward is found in “motivating our patients to value their dental health and providing the tools to help them achieve dental health.”
Jessica, Registered Dental Hygienist Jessica received her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston. Her favorite part about her job is "having the opportunity to meet new people and educate them about their oral healthcare needs so that they may live a happy and healthy lifestyle." Jessica is "excited to be back in Aggieland, and can't wait to take care of you and your smile!"”
Connie, Hygiene Scheduling Coordinator Connie has been in dentistry since 1991 and been on our staff since 1999. She enjoys “helping to design the daily schedule so that all patients are seen on time.” She just enjoys “working with people.”
Norma, Administrative Assistant Norma has been in dentistry for over 17 years, having worked in Kansas and Michigan before she got it right and came to Texas! She feels that "every patient is important and special, and (I) can think of no greater reward than knowing I've helped others achieve better overall health."
Dena, Administrative Assistant Dena began her career in dentistry in 1987. She came to Texas from Michigan in 2006. She is "proud to be a part of a practice that shares my values of care and commitment to the patient in all aspects of their dental care needs."
Brittany, Administrative Assistant Brittany is a recent graduate of A & M, with a BS in Health. She has worked in other health care fields, and is "thankful for the opportunity to work with doctors and staff that are so passionate and caring about the dental health of our patients and community."
Tory, Clinical Assistant Tory has been in dentistry since 2003. She came to us with excellent experience from a premier dental practice in the Houston area. She enjoys dentistry "because we can create a healthy, beautiful smile for every patient.”
Kitri, Clinical Assistant Kitri has been in dentistry since 2005. She grew up in the Brazos Valley and graduated from A & M Consolidated. She "enjoys building relationships with patients that join our dental family."
Renee, Clinical Assistant Renee came to us from another quality practice in B-CS and prior to that she worked for a friend and colleague in Tyler. She has been in dentistry since 2003 and enjoys "helping our patients achieve the beautiful smiles they want and deserve."
Stephanie, Clinical Assistant Stephanie has been a registered dental assistant since 2008 and lives in Caldwell. She "loves cosmetic dentistry because of what it does for a person's self-esteem, knowing that when they leave our office they will have a beautiful smile."
Sarah, Hygiene Assistant "I love working with our hygienists in giving our patients the tools to help and maintain their beautiful smiles. Everyone deserves a beautiful smile!"
Madison, Hygiene Assistant Madison is a pre-dental student at A&M. Her father, uncle, grandfather and sister are all in the dental profession! She is eager to join them, because "she can't imagine anything better than joining a profession that cares so much for their patients and community."
